Our Professional Practice department oversees the Continuing Competence Program. Our regulatory mandate of public protection calls for us to establish requirements for continuing competence. This demonstrates that registered social workers are maintaining and enhancing their competence throughout their careers as required by the Health Professions Act.
We also create guidance for registrants to support understanding and adherence to the bylaws, Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. We provide consultation to registrants on questions related to the standards and ethical issues in practice. We answer inquiries from the public, employers and other groups, and offer presentations to students to prepare graduates for the registration process and professional expectations.
