The new Competence Program opened on January 1, 2026 for all registered social workers. Registered social workers are regulated health professionals who must show that they’re maintaining and enhancing their competence throughout their careers; participation in the Competence Program is a mandatory requirement of registration.
Over the autumn of 2025, ACSW offered a number of webinars to support registrants through the program change with 4,800 registrants signing up to take part. Live webinars, including a demonstration of the Competence Program module and how to submit the competence requirements will continue to be offered through March, 2026.
Additional webinars will be available for new registrants and those reinstating; as well as on new topics including goal setting and reflection, to help prepare for the submission requirements due in December.
Please visit the ACSW website often for the most up to date webinar schedule, news, and answers to frequently asked questions.
