Do you have an interest in the complaints process? Would you like to know how you can volunteer to support safe and ethical social work in Alberta?
Registered Social Workers are appointed to the Membership List by ACSW Council and public members are appointed by the Government of Alberta. From the Membership List registrants are appointed to Hearing Tribunals and Complaint Review Committees.
Hearing Tribunals ensure the public is protected from unethical, unsafe, or unskilled social work, and make decisions at the disciplinary hearings of investigated complaints made against social workers. Complaint Review Committees provide an independent review of complaint dismissals.
Hearing Tribunals and Complaint Review Committees make important decisions to support public safety and uphold ACSW’s regulatory mandate.
Registrants volunteering in these roles can use this time towards their Competence-Professional Engagement hours with meaningful reflection on your learning.
